The largest association of professional firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) is behind Barr
Lexington, Kentucky—Today, U.S. Senate candidate Andy Barr (R-KY) scored major endorsements: the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Kentucky Professional Fire Fighters (KPFF), the IAFF’s Kentucky affiliate. The IAFF represents 356,000 professional firefighters and EMTs. Barr has long championed Kentucky firefighters and EMTs in Congress, and has been endorsed by IAFF six times.
“Our firefighters and EMT professionals are heroes,” said Andy Barr. “Firefighters and EMT professionals often risk their lives to serve our communities and keep us safe. I’m honored to have the endorsement of the KPFF and IAFF, which represents these great Americans in Kentucky and nationwide. I’m looking forward to being their champion in the U.S. Senate.”
“The KPFF’s unanimous decision reflects Congressman Barr’s strong record of supporting key fire fighter priorities during his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives,” said KPFF President Joe Baer.
“From expanding the AFG and SAFER grant programs to repealing the unfair WEP and GPO penalties on retirees – and on many more issues in between – Congressman Andy Barr has stood with fire fighters and their families when it matters most,” said International Association of Fire Fighters General President Edward Kelly. “The IAFF looks forward to him continuing his support for Kentucky’s fire fighters in the U.S. Senate.”
