Kentucky State Treasurer is the first state-wide office holder to endorse in the Republican primary.
Lexington, KY – Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY), a candidate for the U.S. Senate, announced the endorsement of Kentucky State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf. Metcalf is the first state-wide office holder in Kentucky to endorse a candidate in the Republican Senate primary.
Prior to his election as State Treasurer, Metcalf served six terms as Garrard County Attorney, a state and federal prosecutor, and as a judge on the U.S. Immigration Court. Treasurer Metcalf is a Iraq War veteran and served 29 years in the Kentucky Army National Guard, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 2020.
“I have no doubt that Andy Barr is the right candidate to fight for President Trump’s agenda in the United States Senate,” said Treasurer Mark Metcalf. “Andy is a tireless advocate for the people of Kentucky and a committed America First conservative with the record to back it up. I’m supporting Andy because I know he will never let us down.”
“Mark Metcalf is an American hero who has served our country and Commonwealth for decades,” said Andy Barr. “I’m honored to have earned his support and look forward to working with him to win this election and help save our country.”
