Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police and Kentucky Professional Fire Fighters Back Barr for U.S. Senate

Crescent Springs, KY— Kentucky’s first responders are united behind Andy Barr for U.S. Senate. The Republican nominee held an endorsement rally in Northern Kentucky today where he announced major endorsements from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), and the Kentucky Professional Fire Fighters (KPFF), adding to his growing coalition of support from Kentucky’s first responders and public safety professionals. These endorsements come on the heels of two other major union endorsements on Monday from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) Kentucky State Legislative Board and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED) of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
The IAFF represents more than 356,000 professional firefighters and emergency medical technicians nationwide, while the KPFF serves as its Kentucky affiliate. Barr has a longstanding record of supporting law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs throughout his time in Congress.
The Kentucky FOP has almost 12,000 active members. Barr has consistently been endorsed by the KPFF and the KY FOP during his career.
“Our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs put their lives on the line every day to keep our families and communities safe,” said Andy Barr. “I’ve always been proud to stand with the men and women who answer the call when Kentuckians need them most. I’m honored to have the support of the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police, the International Association of Fire Fighters, and the Kentucky Professional Fire Fighters. They’ve had my back, and I’ll always have theirs. In the United States Senate, I’ll continue fighting to make sure our first responders have the resources, support, and respect they deserve.”
“Kentucky’s law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. We need leaders who have our backs, and Andy Barr has proven time and again that he stands with the men and women who wear the badge. He’s fought to give us the tools we need to do our jobs and put criminals behind bars. We know Andy Barr will have our six in the United States Senate, and we’re proud to endorse him,” said Scott Hildebrand, President of the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police.
“The KPFF’s unanimous decision reflects Congressman Barr’s strong record of supporting key fire fighter priorities during his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Joe Baer, President of KPFF. “From expanding the AFG and SAFER grant programs to repealing the unfair WEP and GPO penalties on retirees – and on many more issues in between – Congressman Andy Barr has stood with fire fighters and their families when it matters most.”
Throughout his time in Congress, Barr has supported critical funding for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) programs, which help departments purchase lifesaving equipment and maintain adequate staffing. He also supported the repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO), which unfairly reduced retirement benefits for many public servants. The endorsements add to Barr’s growing coalition of supporters from across the Commonwealth as he campaigns to represent Kentucky in the United States Senate.
