Andy Barr’s Closing Pitch to Kentucky Voters
As my daughter put it in a television ad you may have seen, I love Kentucky. Like, a lot.
I love the people who get up before dawn to run our farms, mines, and factories. I love the small towns where neighbors still know each other’s names and look out for one another. I love our cities that are growing because families believe their future is here.
It is because I love this Commonwealth so much, because I love our country so much, that I will not turn over one of Kentucky’s U.S. Senate seats to the most extreme candidate in the history of our state.
This November, Kentuckians face a clear choice between two visions. Mine is Kentucky common sense that strengthens the American Dream. Charles Booker’s is a socialist experiment that will lead to an American nightmare.
I’ll renew the American Dream in Kentucky by unleashing Kentucky energy to lower costs and create jobs. I will fight for policies that boost Kentucky’s coal and natural gas so the United States is energy dominant, permanently, and never energy desperate. Charles Booker supports the Green New Deal, banning over 80% of the energy sources we use to fuel our vehicles and heat our homes.
And it’s not just about energy. It’s about your paycheck, too. I will work to grow wages and wealth, not government handouts and dependency. Kentuckians aren’t asking Washington for a check. They want a good job, a fair shot, and the freedom to keep more of what they earn.
Charles Booker wants to create an automatic paycheck provided by the government to every American, whether they’ve earned it through work or not, paid for by the taxpayer.
The choice is just as clear when it comes to keeping our communities safe. I will defend it, not defund it. I will protect the law enforcement officers who run toward danger so the rest of us don’t have to. Charles Booker wants to defund the police and abolish cash-bail, putting criminals out on the street to commit more crimes against Kentuckians.
And being your Senator is also about something simple: serving the people of Kentucky. I want to serve you, and as Central Kentucky’s Congressman, I’ve done just that.
In the last Congress, my team and I successfully closed 3,491 cases for Kentuckians struggling with federal agencies, including almost one case a day for veterans. That meant Social Security checks that finally arrived, VA benefits that finally came through, and families finally cutting through the bureaucracy to get the government service they deserve.
Charles Booker wants to create a system where Kentuckians pay for politicians through taxpayer funding of political campaigns. If you think robocalls, TV ads, and campaign mailers are bad now, just wait until you are paying for them.
Socialism is a dangerous ideology that is on the rise everywhere. A Socialist now runs the financial capital of the world in New York. A Socialist who campaigned with a man that said America deserved 9/11 is the U.S. Senate nominee in Michigan. And in Kentucky, Socialist Charles Booker will abolish the border, abolish private health insurance, defund the police, and start a nationwide Socialist experiment that has failed everywhere it has been tried.
Kentucky cannot afford that experiment. We don’t need a Senator who takes his cues from the far left in New York and Michigan. We need one who takes his cues from Kentucky.
I’ve already shown Kentuckians how I work: for them, for their families, and for the common sense that makes this the greatest Commonwealth in the greatest country on earth.
This November, I’m asking for the chance to take that work to the United States Senate.
Andy Barr is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Kentucky
