Lexington, KY—Tonight, Madison County Sheriff Mike Coyle announced his department had arrested the man accused of breaking into and damaging the Andy Barr Senate headquarters in Lexington on Thursday. Sheriff Coyle confirmed the man is a resident of Richmond and that he was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies and being held in Madison County Detention Facility. The arrest was made on a Fayette County warrant for Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, a felony charge. He is being held on $25,000 cash bond.
“Madison County Sheriff’s office arrested a suspect peacefully in Richmond this afternoon,” said Sheriff Coyle. “We are holding him in Madison County Detention Center on a Fayette County warrant for Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, a felony, and will coordinate with the Lexington Police Department in the days ahead.”
“Political violence has no place in our country. I’m grateful to God that our staff and volunteers are safe and not hurt,” said Barr. “I want to thank Madison County Sheriff Mike Coyle, his Deputies, and the Lexington Police Department for their quick response and their professionalism. This is another example of why our police officers in Kentucky are the best in the country and why we must always back the blue.”
