Sheriff David Charles Endorses Andy Barr for Senate

Mt. Sterling, KY—Today, Montgomery County Sheriff David Charles announced he’s endorsing Andy Barr to be Kentucky’s next U.S. Senator.

“Andy Barr has always delivered for our police department and our entire county,” said Sheriff Charles. “From his work to secure more federal funds to combat the opioid crisis to a new medical facility to provide healthcare to low-income Kentuckians, he’s always shown up for Montgomery County. Andy will take this work to the next level in the U.S. Senate and I fully support his campaign.”

“Sheriff Charles has dedicated his career to the service of Montgomery County and he’s always served Kentuckians here well,” said Barr. “I’ve been honored to partner with him to support his department and deputies. I look forward to working with him for all of Montgomery County in the U.S. Senate.”

Barr secured Montgomery County’s inclusion in the federal High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, bringing additional federal resources to support local law enforcement in the fight against drug trafficking and the opioid epidemic. Barr also brought home a $1M federal grant in 2022 to expand the Mt. Sterling Post Clinic, helping increase access to healthcare for low-income Kentuckians in Montgomery County and across the region.
