Law Enforcement

Andy Barr: I Will Always Back the Blue

Dear Law Enforcement Heroes,

You deserve leaders who have your back — not just when it’s politically popular, but when it really counts. Throughout my time in Congress, I have been proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with
Kentucky’s law enforcement officers. You are the front line between order and chaos, and I will always fight to ensure you have the support, funding, and respect you deserve.

Unlike my opponents in this race, I will never cave to the radical left when they come for our men and women in uniform with anti police, pro-criminal policies that will hurt our law enforcement and endanger our communities.

Here is my Record of Supporting Law Enforcement:

  • Championing the Chief Herbert D. Proffitt Act: to fix the Public Safety Officers’ Benefits program so that families of fallen officers aren’t denied benefits due to retirement technicalities. Chief Proffitt, a Kentuckian killed by a criminal he once put behind bars, deserves justice — and so do all of you who wear the badge. I led this bill to passage in Congress and it will be signed into law by President Donald Trump.
  • Social Security Fairness Act: supported and voted for the Social Security Fairness Act to repeal unfair provisions that reduce Social Security benefits for police officers, firefighters, and other public servants. You paid into the system — you earned those benefits. It’s time the law treated you fairly.
  • Expanding High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) designations: enhanced HIDTA designations in the Sixth District — including Clark, Madison, Montgomery, and Powell Counties — so local and state law enforcement could access enhanced federal resources, intelligence sharing, and coordination tools to fight fentanyl and organized crime.
  • Fighting for COPS and DOJ Grants: I’ve secured millions in Department of Justice and COPS Office grants to strengthen local departments across Central and Eastern Kentucky — including hiring funds, new technology, and school safety upgrades to protect officers and students.
  • Enhancing Criminal Penalties for Criminals who Target Cops: I voted for the Thin Blue Line Act and the Protect and Serve Act — legislation to strengthen penalties for anyone who assaults or targets police officers. Criminals who attack law enforcement must face serious consequences.

The Contrast Couldn't Be Clearer:

Unfortunately, not everyone in this race shares my respect for the men and women who wear the uniform.
  • Nate Morris Supported BLM: while serving as CEO of Rubicon Technologies — publicly supported the Black Lives Matter movement. The official BLM platform calls for defunding and abolishing police departments, ending qualified immunity, and advancing other anti-law enforcement policies. BLM torched the city of Louisville during the 2020 riots over Breonna Taylor. They caused property damage, vandalism, and assaulted police officers. Anyone who promoted them should be disqualified from being the GOP nominee.
  • Daniel Cameron Pushed for Pro-Criminal Cashless Bail: while serving as spokesman for the radical group “Kentucky Smart on Crime,” Cameron called for the elimination of cash bail. “We have right now a bail system that’s a money bail system. We want to move to a no-money bail system,” Cameron said. This far-left policy has led to the deaths of countless of Americans murdered by criminals who are released into the streets by pro-criminal politicians that make cops’ jobs harder.
Kentucky’s law enforcement community deserves a Senator who doesn’t just talk about backing the blue — but has done it, consistently. My record is clear: I have fought for you in Congress, and I will fight for you in the U.S. Senate. Together, we can ensure that public safety remains a top priority and that every officer in Kentucky receives the respect, resources, and protection they deserve.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Sincerely,
Andy Barr
