Louisville, Kentucky— Today, Andy Barr (R-KY), the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, joined local leaders and community members to honor the life of long-term Jefferson County Clerk, Barbara “Bobbie” Holsclaw. In a tribute to her decades of public service, an honorary street naming ceremony was held designating “Bobbie Holsclaw Way” at the corner of East Liberty Street and South Wenzel Street—home to the Jefferson County Election Center.

Bobbie Holsclaw took office as Jefferson County Clerk in 1999 and went to serve over 20 years, becoming an influential and trusted member of the County community. In her role, she also served as Chairperson of the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

Beyond her official duties, Holsclaw was known for her deep commitment to the community. She was a steadfast advocate of many philanthropic endeavors, including the WHAS Crusade for Children, and consistently used her platform to give back. She was honored with multiple community and national awards, including the 2007 “Most Admired Woman” in Today’s Women Magazine.

“Bobbie was a trailblazer, committed public servant, and a true champion for the people of Jefferson County,” said Andy Barr. “This honor is a fitting tribute to a life devoted to serving others. We miss Bobbie, but now her legacy will live on forever in the community she loved so much and served so well.”

“Bobbie Holsclaw embodied a unique, caring approach to public service. Regardless of the issue, Bobbie consistently focused on doing the right thing for all constituents in Jefferson County. She left a great example for all those in public service to follow,” said Don Fitzpatrick, Chairman of Jefferson County GOP.

The street naming serves as a lasting tribute to Bobbie Holsclaw’s legacy of leadership, service, and compassion. Her impact on Jefferson County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky will be felt for generations to come.
