Former KY Deputy Chief Justice, Vietnam War Hero, KY Governor Candidate Will T. Scott Endorses Andy Barr for Senate

Justice Scott’s son, Mayor Andrew H. Scott of Coal Run, Kentucky, also endorsed Barr.

Coal Run, Kentucky—Today, former Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Will T. Scott endorsed Andy Barr to be the next Senator from Kentucky. Scott’s son, Mayor Andrew H. Scott of Coal Run, Kentucky, also announced he’s backing Barr.

“Eastern Kentucky will be Barr country,” the Scott’s said in a joint statement announcing their endorsement. “Andy Barr is a constitutional conservative, a fighter for Kentucky’s energy industry, and is a proven winner. We will do everything we can to make Andy Barr our next U.S. Senator.”

“Justice Scott has done it all when it comes to serving community, our Commonwealth, and our country,” said Barr. “He’s served honorably and with distinction in the Vietnam War. He furthered the conservative movement as a Supreme Court Justice during a time when Republicans were still outnumbered in the State. And in his campaign for Governor, he championed school choice and our energy sector. I’m honored to have his endorsement and the endorsement of his son, Mayor Andrew H. Scott, who I look forward to working with to deliver for the city of Coal Run.”

Justice Scott served on the Kentucky Supreme Court from his election in 2004 until 2015 when he ran for Governor. From 2006-2010, he served as Deputy Chief Justice of the Court. During his service in Vietnam in the U.S. Army, Scott served as first lieutenant with 82nd Airborne and was recognized numerous times for service above the call of duty, receiving the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.

Mayor Scott followed his father’s footsteps in public service and was first elected City Commissioner in 2010 and later, in 2014, he was elected Mayor of Coal Run, Kentucky.
