Louisville, KY — Today, Andy Barr, the leading Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, launched the Law Enforcement for Barr Coalition at the River City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge in Louisville.
“I will always have the backs of the men and women in law enforcement,” said Barr. “When the radical left pushed the dangerous Defund the Police movement and soft-on-crime policies like cashless bail, I stood up and fought back. In the Senate, I will continue to stand with the brave officers who protect our communities and keep Kentucky families safe.”
Barr highlighted the endorsement of the Police Officers’ Defense Coalition, the only national law enforcement organization to endorse in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race
“Andy Barr has consistently stood with the men and women who protect our communities,” said Bert Eyler, President of the Police Officers’ Defense Coalition. “From opposing the Defund the Police movement to advancing legislation that protects officers and their families, Congressman Barr has proven he will always fight for law enforcement.”
Barr also recently received the endorsement of former President Fraternal Order of Police and Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue.
“Andy Barr has always been a strong partner for law enforcement,” said Sheriff Perdue, co-Chair of the Barr for Senate Law Enforcement Coalition. “Andy has always delivered for our police and will continue to be our champion in the U.S. Senate. He understands the challenges our officers face and has delivered real results to help keep our communities safe.”
Barr also highlighted his legislative record supporting law enforcement, including passage of the Chief Herbert D. Proffitt Act, which expands federal benefits for families of officers targeted because of their service, and his leadership in expanding the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program to bring additional federal resources to Central Kentucky law enforcement.
Barr also led the STOP Chinese Fentanyl Act, signed into law by President Trump, which imposes sanctions on Chinese companies or persons involved in producing fentanyl or its precursor chemicals.
