Richmond, KY — Andy Barr, the leading Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, launched the Veterans for Barr Coalition. Barr, who has been a champion for veterans during his time in Congress, held a kickoff event at American Legion Post 12.
“Our veterans answered the call to serve and defend this country, and they deserve leadership that shows up for them in return,” said Barr. “I’ve cut red tape to ensure our veterans get access to the benefits they earned in service and worked to expand education, healthcare, and housing services for our veterans. The Veterans for Barr Coalition will help me hit the ground running for our veterans on day one as the next Senator from Kentucky.”
“Andy Barr’s legislative record in support of the United States military and the veteran community is unsurpassed,” said Major General (Ret.) Donald Storm, who served as the 50th Adjutant General of the Kentucky National Guard. “His consistent, efficient, and sustained effort on behalf of service members and their families has been invaluable. The record of delivering improved benefits, including education and healthcare, and supporting successful initiatives concerning increased Force Readiness Posture speaks for itself. These reasons underpin my endorsement and total support for Andy Barr to become Kentucky’s next U.S. Senator.”
“Kentucky needs a Senator who understands the military mission, readiness, and the role that our Kentucky National Guard plays,” said Major General (Ret.) Ed Tonini, who served as Kentucky’s 51st Adjutant General from 2007–2015. “Andy Barr doesn’t just understand our mission — he’s helped us achieve it. He worked hard in Congress delivering the C-130Js Kentucky needed to modernize our mission, and he’s been with us no matter who was Commander-in-Chief to ensure we had the resources necessary to recruit, retain, and accomplish our mission. I’m proud to endorse him for Senate.”
“Senator Andy Barr will be a great one for Kentucky’s National Guard,” said Major General (Ret.) Stephen Hogan, who served as the 52nd Adjutant General of the Kentucky National Guard. “We don’t need to wonder what he will do for us if he’s our Senator — we just need to look at his record of results. Senator Barr will help us achieve our mission and take care of our soldiers, airmen, and all military members throughout the Commonwealth and across this country. I fully endorse Andy Barr for Senate.”
“Andy Barr stands up for the people who defend our country and Commonwealth,” said former Menifee County Sheriff Rodney Coffey. “He has consistently supported our military and veterans, ensuring they have the resources, care, and recognition they deserve. Kentucky’s heroes know they can count on him to keep fighting for them in Washington.”
Barr pointed to his record of delivering tangible results for service members and veterans, including supporting increased annual military pay raises through the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and backing the landmark 2024 Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Health and Benefits Improvement Act. He has also supported innovative programs like $5 million for equine-assisted therapy and led bipartisan amendments to strengthen the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship under the Forever GI Bill, which was signed into law to expand opportunities for veterans pursuing careers in science and technology.
Barr has consistently backed legislation that supports those who served, including co-sponsoring measures like the Blue Water Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019 and the PACT Act to expand access to care and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances.
