Winchester, KY—Today, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue announced he’s backing Andy Barr to be the next Senator from Kentucky. The longtime President of Kentucky’s Fraternal Order of Police, Sheriff Perdue is one of the most widely respected Sheriffs in Kentucky. Perdue stepped down as FOP President earlier this year. Sheriff Perdue is also a past President of the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association.
“As Clark County Sheriff, I’ve had no stronger ally at the federal level than Andy Barr,” said Sheriff Perdue. “Together, we advocated for and received more resources at the federal level to help our Clark County Deputies fight the drug epidemic. Andy stood strong against the defund police movement and always supported our police here in Kentucky. He will make a great U.S. Senator.”
“Sheriff Perdue has done a great job as Clark County Sheriff and leading the FOP for so many years,” said Barr. “As our next Senator, I’ll continue working with him to keep Clark County safe and to support law enforcement throughout our Commonwealth. I’m honored to have his endorsement.”
Barr and Sheriff Perdue led the effort for Clark County to be designated a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) county, unlocking additional resources from the federal level to fight the drug epidemic. Clark County received a HIDTA designation in 2020.
